È professoressa associata alla Rockefeller University di New York, dove dirige il laboratorio di Mantenimento della Stabilità Genomica. La sua ricerca mira a comprendere i meccanismi di riparazione del danno al DNA a livello cellulare. Questi processi sono necessari al corretto funzionamento degli organi vitali e nella prevenzione dei tumori e sono alla base di malattie genetiche ereditarie come l’anemia di Fanconi. È stata una Howard Hughes Medical Institute Faculty Scholar ed è stata eletta alla American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI).

Agata Smogorzewska is an Associate Professor at The Rockefeller University in New York City, heading the Laboratory of Genome Maintenance. Research in her laboratory is focused on the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair. Using Fanconi anemia and other genetic diseases as a backdrop, her research aims to elucidate the pathways that protect organ function and prevent cancer, with a focus on those that replicate and repair DNA. She has been a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Faculty Scholar from 2016 to 2021 and has been elected to American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI) in 2016.
